In this post, I would like to discuss about current condition of some famous Multimedia Institutes in Delhi. First of all, let me tell you that I am studying Maya software from MAAC , Netaji Subhas Chander Place, and I m a former student of Arena Multimedia ,Preet Vihaar. I spent 3 years in Arena multimedia, or I should say “I wasted my 3 precious years of my life” at Arena Multimedia. My most important find during these years is that Arena Multimedia is nothing more than a “shop”. They charged me about 1.5 lakh for 3 year degree course (B.sc. Multimedia form Sikkim Manipal University) and in return they gave me nothing, just basic knowledge of some softwares. Another frustrating part is fee difference. They charge different fees from different students who applying for the same course. They charged me around 1.5 lakh. While some of my classmates paid 1.3 lakh and some paid 1.4 lakh and some other paid 1.25 lakh

And what should I tell about management and faculty. Well, most of the faculty of Arena is like “Jhola Chap Doctors”. They have just basic knowledge of software and some basic tricks, just like an “intern”. They can teach one only the basics of the software or some of their tricks. And the moment you ask them questions that demand deeper knowledge of the subject they are teaching you, they just have one answer – “this is not in your course”. And you keep wondering like a dumb ass, “they never told me about the limits of the course”.

This is the condition of Preet Vihaar center of Arena Multimedia. But not all of the teachers are like “noobs”. There are some good teachers also, who have deep knowledge of the software and they also keep telling you about the market conditions too. But they do not stay for long periods as everyone wants the same level community.

One more thing, you can still learn some basics about Web designing and 2D graphic designing, but if you want to know about sketching, just stay steer clear of this place.

Now let me tell you something about their labs. Now they have upgraded to good systems, some but when I was a newcomer I found systems with P3.

Overall, its not a good idea to spend your parent’s hard earned money and you very precious time in Arena Multimedia. Specially the Preet Vihaar Center.

If you are thinking about making your career in 3D graphics, there are only two good institutes in Delhi. Picasso and Maac. Picasso is the superior one, but then it will also charge you a superior fees. I opted for Maac. I am paying them about 69 thousand for Maya software and 11 thousand for sketching. I have spent around a month there and I m really satisfied, the faculty is fine here, plus a good computer lab.

In first weak itself, they taught me the full interface of Maya. And during this time I kept thinking that these guys are insane, they are telling me useless options, just wasting my time. But after the weak , they began teaching modeling. Then I realize the importance of the earlier classes. These small options really help you in making a big 3D graphics. Now we are making car in Maac, and these guys really know good tricks and tell us how to go deep and deep for good detailing. They just took two weak for making a car. Now I have my own 3D model of a sports car (I will post it later). And its my first car. By the way, I was practicing 3D for last one year and after reading lots of tutorials I was never able to make a full detailed car model. But now, thanks to my new faculty, making cars is not a big deal for me.

In my view, Maac is good for 3D learning. They charge you a little extra but they also give you satisfaction.

About Picasso, I really don’t know much, but if can manage to spend about 2 to 3 lacks then opt for Picasso. I am told that they have very knowledgeable and experienced faculty. They posses good management, best labs (in my opinion) and a great environment for animation studies.

In Picasso you need to spend like 6-7 hours in institute, for lectures and practice, just same like a regular college. The main thing which impressed me is that their main goal is developing creativity and good command on software among their students.

Both of the centers of Picasso are good, but Picasso Mathura Road is better, as peoples say.

In the end, if you want to make career in web designing, Arena is OK, but try to search more, and if you want to learn 3D, Picasso, Maac and Animaster (not know much about this institute but some experienced people suggest this with Picasso and Maac) are good sane and intelligent options.
